Some sad news about a well known identity in Qld. Square dancing
20th November 2019
Rachelle Mills (Kelly), formerly of Bundaberg, passed away peacefully in the Rockhampton Mater Hospital surrounded by her family and close friends on Wednesday 20th November, 2019 following a nearly 4 year battle with a life threatening illness.
Rachelle (Shell) was an amazing person, an accountant by profession who wanted to expand her part time career as a cake decorator and her business Shell’s Art CQ was renowned in the region. If you’ve tasted any of Shell’s cooking you’ll know why. If anyone required help for any reason Rachelle was always there to offer assistance, advice, support and love. Her own problems were never her priority and she was deeply troubled that what was happening with her own life was rough on her family. She was so strong of character and determination and was taken too soon at such an early age of just 35. We’re so glad her pain has ended but this will leave a huge hole in many lives.
Shell lost her mum Shellie, a talented artist and community worker who painted several backdrops for the 2016 National Square Dance Convention, just before her own diagnosis.
From a very young age Shell learned to dance with her Nana, Shirley Kelly and the Cane Country Squares and supported Shirley and their club until her move to Rockhampton where she soon became not only a staunch supporter of Rocky Twirlers but a respected and devoted leader.
We will miss seeing her smiling face on the dance floor and she will be forever in our hearts.
Shell’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be forwarded in remembrance of her to the Oncology Department, Rockhampton Mater Hospital.
